Brno, Dec 12 (BD) – “Although warm beds are ready for homeless people in winter, many choose to stay on the street because they cannot bring their dogs inside with them. After the winter season we will evaluate the dog kennels as a supplementary service and possibly provide them again for the next winter,” said Mayor of Brno Markéta Vaňková.
A survey of the number of homeless people in 2018 found that there are 1,657 people living on the streets in Brno. The number of homeless people has been stable over the years, but the number of people using some form of help and social services has been increasing.
The Social Care Department of the City of Brno, the Social Services Center, the Salvation Army and the Diocesan Charity Brno provide crisis centers, day centres, dormitories, shelters and housing units with social intervention. In total, the city provides 363 beds.
